A Clear Message

From this article:

Alberta can go ahead with all the health reforms it likes - so long as it stays within the rules of the Canada Health Act, says a spokesman for the incoming Conservative government.

and then this bit:

Stairs said Harper made his position clear during the election campaign and reaffirmed it Friday: "Mr. Harper has said changes should be made within the Canada Health Act."

?

I guess the Conservatives are getting used to the idea of being the government, no one can figure out what the announcements are saying. Allow me to paraphrase:

"You have to follow the rules but we don't like the rules either so don't worry, the rules you have to follow aren't the real rules they're the new rules."

Isn't government fun?

anathema sit! anathema sit!

It's bad enough that you've sold out to corporate and consumerist interests- I expect no better from the Liberals, as the sainted George Grant warned us.

A general sell-out is to be expected, then. But the genius of Liberals is to always surprise. You had to sell out, not only in a general way, but to a corporation which just sold out to the commies. But, hey, China no longer engages in large-scale genocide. Just good clean commie fun, like shipping refugees from the last Stalinist state back to be executed and imprisoning religious leaders for decades.
